Hi, my name is Mai Golbuff and I am the SUCCESS Case Manager here at Samuelson Elementary School. I have been a case manager for over 20 years and have been with the District for 17 years. What the SUCCESS Program is all about…. helping students and their family in making connections with home & school, helping students learn to ask for help and making good choices. I grew up in Des Moines but currently live in Polk City with my husband and two children. I enjoyed spending time with my family and friends and attending all their activities and sporting event. I look forward to having a successful year at Samuelson.
Hi! I’m Mrs. Alaina and this is my 5th year working as a special education associate in DMPS and my 3rd year at Samuelson. I have a national vocational qualification in early years childcare and education which I earned in the UK and have worked with children for over 15 years. I’m so grateful to work with the wonderful students and staff here at Samuelson and looking forward to another great school year!
Hello! My name is Tabitha Klinefeldt. This is my second year at Samuelson and I love the students and parents in this community!
I graduated from Lincoln within the DMPS. I’ve done many different career paths in life, including the dental field, the hairstylist world and most recently the solar industry. Each of those taught me many things but I believe working with kids and their education is what is going to be most rewarding! When I am not at work I like to spend time with my husband and my 2 children ( a 17 year old daughter and a 13 year old son). We like to go to concerts and travel to new places as much as we can. Being a competitive dance mom and a competitive basketball mom keeps me busy!
I try to stay on top of keeping parents informed as much as I can, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions!
Hello! My name is Megan Davidson and this is my third year teaching here at Samuelson. I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2007, and worked in the insurance field prior to following my passion of teaching. In 2015 I earned my Masters of Science in Teaching degree from Drake University with endorsement in ELL and reading. Being a teacher has been an amazing career change for me, and I feel so fortunate to work with all of the wonderful students and staff at Samuelson.
I also recently got married in September and enjoy spending time with my husband. We both love to read, watch movies and cheer on the Iowa Hawkeyes together! Having grown up in Urbandale, I am lucky to have my parents here in town and love spending time with my family. In my free time, I also enjoy hot yoga, cooking and doing crafts.
Hello! I feel honored to have the privilege of working with the staff and students at Samuelson Elementary School. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from Central College and my master’s degree from Drake University. I started my career at Southeast Polk School as a Special Education teacher and then as a 6th grade classroom teacher. I came to Des Moines Public Schools as an Instructional Coach. I have worked at Brubaker Elementary, Smouse Opportunity School, and Samuelson. I live with my husband and two children. I enjoy being outside, yoga, movies, and books.
Hello! My name is Jennifer Butz. I have been teaching in Des Moines since 2008. I earned my undergraduate degree from The University of Iowa in 1999 and my graduate degree from The University of Oklahoma in 2004. I taught 1st and 2nd grade in North Carolina for two years, 1st/2nd grade Multiage in Mannheim, Germany for five years, for the first four years in Des Moines I taught 3rd grade and have taught 5th grade for the past ten years. I’m so excited to be a part of Samuelson’s staff as this is where I began my educational path as a kindergartener! I look forward to instilling a love of learning in children, and challenging them to read, read, read! I love teaching because of those “AH-HA” moments, and when students make a connection to the real world while in a lesson. I look forward to being a part of each child’s educational path!
