DMPS is conducting a seven-day orientation/acclimation to school for all incoming kindergarten students. During the first seven days of school, kindergarten students will be working with all classroom teachers and support staff to learn routines, expectations, and relationship building. Students will be assigned to a specific teacher on Thursday, September 1st. An all-school open-house will be held from 5-6:30 pm on September 1st. At this time, families will be able to meet their child’s kindergarten classroom teacher.

On the first day of school, all kindergarten students will go directly to the cafeteria upon arrival. There will be an optional kindergarten parent orientation at 7:45 am in the library on the first day of school (August 24th). A second opportunity to attend the orientation will be during open-house at 6:15-6:30 in the library.

Kindergarten students DO NOT attend school on Friday, September 2nd. Please plan accordingly. On September 6th, kindergarten students will report directly to their assigned classrooms. Parents are welcome to walk their students into the building on this day.
